Who We Are.....
Friends of Children and Families was founded in 2008, to provide care and housing for foster children in Orange, Seminole, Polk and Osceola County. FCF is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children who have been placed into foster care, and give them the opportunity to develop into well-adjusted and productive members of society.
FCF’s philosophy is based on the belief that if children are provided with love, a sense of security, structure and positive opportunities for growing in a family and community atmosphere, then healthy development will occur. FCF strives to provide that kind of environment by providing the necessary services, support, and care for children in need.
The primary goals of FCF are to provide an environment that is conducive to the growth and safety of our children, enhance the lives of children who have been diagnosed with emotional and behavioral disturbances, and offer the needed services and programs which develop the cognitive and social skills of the children.
To meet these goals, FCF:
- operates Three Residential Foster Homes which provide care for children in a family style living arrangement
- performs Comprehensive Behavioral Health Assessments (CBHA) to assess the needs and recommend appropriate services for children
- provides a Mentoring program which is designed to promote healthy growth and self-esteem for children by providing a positive role model
- offers In-Home and School Counseling services to children and their families
The goal of these programs are to provide the children a positive and stable environment that allows them to reach their full potential.
